FARM

This regional Mantiqueira Mountains Yellow Bourbon blend is produced by several smallholder farmers who are members of the Cocarive cooperative in Carmo de Minas, Brazil. The fabulous coffees are selected by quality and variety, with the cup score for this selection sitting at 84.

The cooperative was established in 1961 thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of neighbouring farmers in the region. The objective of forming the cooperative was to increase productivity amongst the members as well as the quality of coffee, to achieve better pricing and control on what the farmers would make, instead of relying on the capped prices of the world market.

The altitude and volcanic soil in this region of Brazil create prime conditions for growing balanced, well-bodied coffees.

Cocarive also partners with Sustenta+, a collaboration between Cocarvie and AgroCP, a fertilizer company focused on renewable fertilizers. Sustenta+ is a new certification that Cocarive member farmers can attain by focusing on environmentally-sound coffee production techniques.
