A journey we didn't expect

Alan here. I'm the Chief Mascot alpaca of this company in case you didn't know. If you're wondering how it all got started - buckle up and I'll tell you.
2020
The Idea

What started as a trip to South America for our founder, Victoria, turned into a quest to bring delicious coffee to people's homes. When Alpaca Coffee was born, it was her mission from the get-go to create a company that reflected the changes she wished to see in the world.
Kickstarter

Alpaca Coffee launched on Kickstarter in April 2020 as the "100% Plastic Free Coffee Company" and was chosen as a Kickstarter "Projects We Love"! We managed to raise enough money to get the first version of the product off the ground and we were backed by over 160 backers. Some of our early backers are still our customers today.
2021
Product development

Over the course of 2020 - 2021, Alpaca went through further developments as the team worked hard to improve the quality, sustainability and ethics of the coffee. During this time, Mo, Head of Coffee, the very first person to join the company, came onboard. Coffee samplings are fun around here.
Product development (again)

Throughout 2021, we kept on improving the product and worked with fantastic mentors and advisors who helped us shape Alpaca. It truly takes a village. We joined the Social Starter's Pernod Ricard mentoring program and were accelerated by an impact business growth programme, funded by the European Union's Regional Development Fund and London & Partners. Our founder was also named "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" 2021 by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, in partnership with Starling Bank!
2022
Working on the brand

As we entered 2022, we knuckled down to understand who we were and why we existed as a company. We started the fun but challenging process of creating a brand that we aspired to be. The team worked hard on getting Alpaca ready to become something bigger and better.
Launch!

And here we are. Say hello to the new Alpaca Coffee. The team and I (Alan if you forgot about me along the way), couldn't be more excited to introduce our awkwardly good coffee. We are also now a member of 1% for the Planet. Those questions we were asking about why we exist? Well, we're here to ask the F&B industry the awkward questions to make coffee better all round. It's pretty tasty as well, if you wanted to give it a go yourself...
