What does 'specialty coffee' mean?

Coffee is only deemed 'specialty' if it receives a Quality Score of more than 80 from the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). This score is judged by sweetness, acidity, balance, mouthfeel and flavour. We only buy coffee that has a minimum score of 82/100.

Is your coffee Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certified? 

Yes, all our coffees come from Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certified coffee farms, estates or cooperatives.  

What grind size should I choose for my brew method?

Cafetière (french press) - coarse grind

Filter (V60, machine drip, siphon, aeropress, chemex) - medium grind

Espresso (moka pot) - fine grind

Is your coffee instant?

Our coffee isn't instant, which means you'll need some sort of equipment to brew it. If you're just starting out, we recommend investing in a V60 or cafetière (french press), which are the easiest brew methods to use.

Are your coffee bags home compostable?

Yes, are coffee bags are home compostable according to the 'OK compost HOME' standard by TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium NV. 

What are your coffee bags made of?

Our coffee bags are completely plastic free and each part is composed of the following:

Outside layer - brown, unbleached kraft paper 

Inside lining - cellulose derived from renewable wood pulp harvested from sustainable plantations

Zipper - "bioplastic", or polybutylene succinate, derived from natural substances such as sugarcane, cassava and corn

Valve - also a "bioplastic" as above

Labels - also cellulose derived from renewable wood pulp as above

How do I dispose of your packaging?

To dispose, simply pop our bags in your home compost or council food waste collection.

How should I store my coffee?

To maintain the flavour of your coffee, when resealing, squeeze as much air out from the pack as possible to keep maximum freshness. Alternatively, place in an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark place.

What delivery service do you use?

All our UK orders are shipped using Royal Mail's 48 hour delivery service.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes we do. We ship internationally to European Union countries, and to the US & Canada.

Do you offer a subscription plan?

Yes! You can subscribe to any of our coffees.
