What does 'Specialty Coffee' mean?
Coffee is only deemed 'specialty' if it receives a Quality Score of more than 80 from the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). This score is judged by sweetness, acidity, balance, mouthfeel and flavour. We only buy coffee that has a minimum score of 82/100.
Is your coffee Fairtrade?
We do not work with Fairtrade certified coffees, as it only benefits a small percentage of farmers who are paid higher prices, whereas other coffee farmers are worse off. Only 10% of the fair trade premium actually goes to the producer.
Instead, our coffees are bought from farms that support international standards on sustainability, better pricing and quality from bean to cup. This is why we include a "The Story" section under each of our product to show our care and emphasis on traceability, and to support family farms and small agricultural communities.
Is your coffee instant?
Our coffee isn't instant, which means you'll need some sort of equipment to brew it. If you're just starting out, we recommend investing in a V60 or cafetière (french press), which are the easiest brew methods to use. Check out our various Brew Guides to see which method is best suitable for you.
What grind size should I choose for my brew method?
Cafetière (french press) - coarse grind
Filter (V60, machine drip, siphon, aeropress, chemex) - medium grind
Espresso (moka pot, espresso machine) - fine grind
Are your coffee bags plastic free?
Yes, our coffee bags are completely plastic free and compostable.
What are your coffee bags made of?
Our coffee bags are made from cornstarch (lining), kraft paper (outside layer), woodpulp (labels) and bio-materials (zipper and valve).
How do I dispose of your packaging?
To dispose, simply pop our bags in your council food waste collection bin, or into your home compost where the bags will decompose over 30 - 50 weeks. Check out a visual guide from our founder.
How should I store my coffee?
To maintain the flavour of your coffee, when resealing, squeeze as much air out from the pack as possible to keep maximum freshness. Alternatively, place in an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark place.
What delivery service do you use?
UK orders are shipped using Royal Mail's 2nd Class delivery service.
Do you ship internationally?
